Analysis - Client Realization Report

The Client Realization Report provides a detailed breakdown of revenue by category, type, and billing method, comparing:

  • Billed Revenue – How revenue was originally invoiced.
  • Realized Revenue – What was actually earned based on work performed.

This report is particularly useful for analyzing fixed-fee revenue items, tracking revenue distribution, and assessing financial performance.

Key Features:

Revenue Breakdown – Displays revenue based on predefined categories (e.g., billable expenses) but does not factor in realization based on actual time worked.
Customizable Views – Filter by date range, group by fields, and run reports for deeper insights.
Billing-Triggered DataData appears only after time is billed and an invoice is created.

How to Access the Report:

  1. Navigate to View Reports in the black left-hand ribbon. (Note: Only users with the Reporting role can access this section.)
  2. Click Client Realization Report in the bottom left corner of the Analysis block.
  3. Select the Revenue tab.
  4. Choose your date range and group by fields, then click "Run Report" to generate the data.

This report helps firms track revenue trends, analyze profitability by service type, and optimize financial planning.

The Column calculations explained:

  • Billable = hours worked and invoiced.
  • Produced = hours * hourly rate of the service or hourly rate of the user. These rates are found in the customizations -> billable types section.
  • Realized = includes realization plus any billable expense(billable item) unrelated to time worked. These items could be any sort of fixed amount fee(QBO host fee, extension filing fee, milage, or postage).
  • Write-Up/Down = Realized - Produced
  • Write-Up/Down % = (Realized - Produced / Produced) x 100
