Adobe Plug-In - Manually Install Troubleshoot Guide (Windows)

If you saw an error or it simply did not install, don't worry, you can install it manually in just a few steps. This guide will walk you through it.

Before You Start

You'll need:

• A Windows computer with Adobe Acrobat Pro installed. 
  • The plug-in is only compatible with:
    • Acrobat Pro 64-bit
    • Adobe Acrobat DC Pro
    • Adobe Acrobat DC standard
    • Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 (for 2020 only, you will need to do this manual install)

    • If applicable, go here and purchase and install that first. Click here to install Adobe Pro

    • Is not compatible with the following:
    • Acrobat Reader
    • Acrobat Reader Standard
    • Creative Cloud - Adobe Acrobat
    • Creative Cloud - Adobe Acrobat Standard

Step 1: Download the Tool File

1. Click this link to download the file: Firm360DocTool.js
2. Save the file somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.

Note: Depending on your browser, the file may download with a .txt added to the end of the name (e.g., Firm360DocTool.js.txt). That's expected — you'll fix this in Step 3.

Step 2: Find Your Acrobat JavaScript Folder

1. Open File Explorer on your computer.
2. Click on the C: drive under "This PC."
3. Open the Program Files folder.
   1. If it's not in Program Files then check Program Files (x86)
4. Open the Adobe folder.
5. Open the Acrobat DC folder, then the Acrobat folder inside it.
6. Look for a folder named JavaScripts. Open it.

The full path usually looks like this: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\JavaScripts

Step 3: Add the File to the JavaScript Folder

1. Move (or copy and paste) the file you downloaded in Step 1 into the JavaScripts folder you just found.
2. If the file name ends in .js.txt, rename it by removing the .txt part so it ends in just .js.
   • For example: Firm360DocTool.js.txt → Firm360DocTool.js
3. If Windows asks you to confirm changing the file type, click Yes.

Step 4: Add the Upload Button to Acrobat's Toolbar

You should now see the Firm360 upload button in your Acrobat toolbar, ready to use.

Still Can't Find the Folder (Step 2)?

If you didn't see a JavaScripts folder in Step 2, you can ask Acrobat to show you exactly where it should go:

1. Open Adobe Acrobat.
2. Press Ctrl + J on your keyboard to open the Console (or go to View > Console).
3. Type the following exactly as shown, then press Enter:

 

   app.getPath("app","javascript")

4. The Console will display the exact folder path on your computer. Use that path to complete Step 2 and Step 3 above.
