How To - Add Billing Parent to Child Client

Firm360 allows you to link a child client to a billing parent when invoices for the child client should be paid by another client, such as a parent company or related entity. This is commonly used for businesses with subsidiaries or multiple related clients where billing is managed by a single organization.

When a billing parent is assigned, billable items recorded for the child client will appear in the billing tabs of both the child and parent clients until an invoice is created. Once invoiced, the invoice will be generated under the billing parent, not the child client.

If you need to create a separate invoice for the child client, we recommend adding the parent contact as a billing contact for the child client and invoicing that contact instead.

Before You Begin

The billing parent client must already exist in your firm's client database before linking it to a child client.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the child client record.

  2. Click Edit Client.

2.  Scroll down to find "Billing Parent" input box.  Click inside the box to begin entering name of "Parent"

client.  Select "Parent" client from list provided.

3.  Scroll to bottom of window to click  "Save".

4.  Confirm  "Billing Parent" has been added to "Childs" Main tab.
