Step 1: Preparing for Export
Before exporting from Practice CS, please ensure the following:
- Practice CS is up to date. Find the latest version here: cs.thomsonreuters.com (may require IT help to install).
- All clients must have Entity Types assigned. You can either fix this in PracticeCS, or in the exported spreadsheet, or our importer can make its “Best Guess”
- The Primary Contact on a Business Client should be a person, NOT a business (if you want to import it initially)
Step 2: Import Custom Format
-
Download our custom export format: https://app.myfirm360.com/static-assets/Firm360-ClientDataExport.cfx
- Please note: DO NOT click to open the PDF that was downloaded above
- In Practice CS, click File > Import > Custom Formats
- Click the ellipsis (three dots) to browse to where the reports are saved.
- Pick the location, the reports, and click Import Selected.
Step 3: Run Reports
- Go to File > Print Reports
-
Select All Clients - Firm360 client data report.
- Status Is Active
- Do not worry about the report date field
- Filter to only Active clients - status is active
- Click preview
- Click Print Selected and choose Output to file > Microsoft Excel.
Step 4: Clean Exported Data List
- Make sure every client has Entity Type and it must match what values are configured in Firm360 Admin
- Make sure every client has Partner In Charge and it matches Email in Firm360
- Most firms we have seen don’t have a primary contact on the business in PracticeCS - add it if you want it imported, otherwise, you can add it later in Firm360
- Make sure you only export active clients, and go ahead and remove any clients you don't want to pull into Firm360
