The Insights tab on each client record gives you a quick snapshot of realization metrics — billable hours, produced, realized, and write-up/down amounts — without leaving the client record. From there, you can jump directly to the full Client Realization Report, pre-filtered to that client.
Who can see the Insights tab?
The Insights tab is visible to firm users who have the following:
- The Reporting role assigned in Firm360
If you don't see the Insights tab on a client record, check with your firm administrator to confirm your role and feature access.
Using the Insights Tab
1. Open a client record
Navigate to the client record for the client you want to review.
2. Select a time period
At the top of the Insights tab, use the Period selector to choose the date range you want to analyze. The summary updates automatically when you change the selection.
3. Review the realization summary
The summary displays the following metrics for the selected period:
| Metric | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Billable Hours | Total hours logged as billable for this client |
| Produced | Total fees produced (hours × billing rate) |
| Realized | Amount actually billed after any adjustments |
| Write-Up / Write-Down | Net difference between produced and realized |
| Staff Cost (if enabled) | Internal cost of staff time for this client |
| Net Profit (if enabled) | Realized minus staff cost |
Note: Staff cost and net profit are only displayed if your firm has configured those settings.
4. Go to the full Client Realization Report
To see a more detailed breakdown, click the View Full Report link at the bottom of the Insights tab. This opens the Client Realization Report in Reporting, already filtered to the current client — no need to set filters manually.
Client Realization Report
You can also access the Client Realization Report directly from Reporting > Client Realization Report.
When you navigate there without a client filter, the report shows data for all clients. Use the filters to narrow results by client, date range, or other criteria.
To reset filters: Click the Reset (or Clear Filters) button to remove all applied filters and return to the full report view.
To export: Use the Export button to download the report as a CSV or Excel file. When no client filter is active, the export includes data for all clients.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the Insights tab on client records? The tab is only visible to users with the Reporting role and Advanced Reporting enabled. Contact your firm administrator if you believe you should have access.
Why aren't staff cost and net profit showing? These fields are optional and depend on your firm's configuration. If you expect to see them but don't, check with your administrator.
The full report link opens with a client already selected — is that right? Yes. When you click "View Full Report" from the Insights tab, the report is intentionally pre-filtered to that client for convenience. You can clear the filter once the report loads to see all clients.
