The Sequential Tasks setting allows you to require tasks within a project to be completed in a specific order. When enabled, users must complete tasks one at a time rather than working on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Enabling Sequential Tasks
When creating or editing a project (from a template, recurring project, or single project), you can select the Sequential Tasks checkbox.
When this option is enabled, tasks in the project must be completed in the order they are listed.
How Sequential Tasks Work
When Sequential Tasks is turned on:
Only the next task in the sequence is unblocked and available to complete.
All remaining tasks are marked as blocked until the prior task is completed.
Blocked tasks will still appear on your dashboard but will be visually indicated as blocked.
You can use search filters to exclude blocked tasks from your view if needed.
What Happens When a Task Is Completed
Once a task is marked complete, the next task in the sequence is automatically unblocked.
If tasks are reordered, the sequence will adjust accordingly.
The user assigned to the newly unblocked task will receive a notification that it is ready to begin.
