The Static WIP (Work-in-Progress) Report provides a comprehensive snapshot of all unbilled hours up to a specified period-ending date, allowing firms to track and manage WIP effectively for billing and resource planning.
Running the WIP Report:
- Select a period ending date
- Search for a client in the Search text box by typing in the client name
- Group by Billing Parent Toggle – Allows you to view WIP consolidated under the Billing Parent. (Note: When this option is enabled, Advanced Criteria, Client Custom Fields, and some preset Group By options will not be available.) View more info on Group by Billing Parent in the WIP Report
- Add Group By Options (Up to 3 Group by Options can be selected)
- Advanced Criteria - You can filter by Client Tags and select Client Custom Fields
- Hours:
Represents the total number of unbilled (not yet invoiced) hours (WIP) through the selected period ending date. - Subtotal:
Represents the total unbilled hours multiplied by the applicable billing rate. This subtotal matches the subtotal displayed on the Billing Dashboard when the same period ending date is selected. - To Invoice:
Represents the remaining dollar amount of WIP yet to be invoiced. This amount aligns with the "Invoice" total displayed on the Billing Dashboard when the same period ending date is selected. - Cost: If the Setting for Tracking Costs for Realization for User and Expenses is Enabled you will see a Staff Cost Calculation
In the above example, the subtotal for Client #1006 Crisp & Co. is Hours: 9.27 and Total: $1,072.24, the same is reflected on the WIP report.
Important Note: the To Invoice amount can differ if the item amounts have been manually adjusted.
